Two Days Down And One To Go

Two Days Down And One To Go
Tuesday March 12th 2019
Everything you do touch and think about revolves around the fact that we are going home in a few days.  Our plane leaves at 9:00 in the evening and we must be out of the condo by 11:00 in the morning.  Our car must be back at the airport by six.  We have a layover in L.A.  We then fly to Minneapolis where we have a layover of 3 or 4 hours.  Now you know all my worries.
This morning it was again to cool to eat outside.  We ate quiche along with papaya.
Being that we only have two days left what to do?  We went to Cemetery Beach (Hanakao'o Park).  Clela packed a lunch.  We found a space in the shade.  Beautiful day.  The wind was gentle, you could almost sleep.

We ate lunch and Clela took out her book and started to read.  People were saying they saw turtles so I went to investigate.  Last year we saw large turtles  sunning on a rock outcropping.

I did find a sea urchin, but no turtles sunning.  There were turtles in the water all though none close enough to take a pic.

We stayed here for a couple hours and went back to our condo. That was our day .  There will be no next day blogs maybe just one of pictures.  Thanks for reading my blogs.  I think next year I will try a different format.  See you next year with Gods will.

The Countdown Begins Now

The Countdown Begins Now
Monday March 11th 2019
We always wake up with the hope that today will be a day with sunshine, mild temp, a gentle breeze and gentle waves lapping up on shore.  Well you can't have it all. We have a warm temp and sunshine, not bad.  We are eating up our food, hence Eggo's.  These babies are extra large.  I had two and and Clela had one, that gives us one more morning.
When we finished we were still hungry.  Two more Eggo's went in the toaster.  Okay now we have one left.  We will have to find something else for breakfast.
When we finished we showered , got dressed and went to the Farmer's market for two more papaya.
We have been leery of the small park across the street because sometimes the people visiting the park are questionable.  This morning we saw kids playing and families with children playing.  So we felt safe to find a bench by the the ocean.

There is an area between two reefs that is a good place to snorkel.  You don't have to worry about it getting too deep because you can stand up.

In the afternoon we went down to the ocean to do some whale watching.  It was the first time in maybe six or seven years since we were able to sit on the sand on the beach of our resort.  We lost all beach here for four or five years ago.

Yes we are indeed on the sand.  Your mother does not like sand, but since it was maybe five steps she agreed.  It was almost like old times.  We had a good day seeing whales, lots of action.

We ate dinner and went down to see the sunset.  Here is some pics.

One day down and two days to go.  See you soon.

Strong Winds And Warnings

Strong Winds And Warnings
Sunday march 10th 2019

This morning the wind were still blowing strong.  In fact we got warnings form the National Weather Service.

What was difference. It would be calm one moment and the next the wind would blow so strong you wanted to seek shelter.

We went to our restaurant for breakfast, which is a treat.

We were hoping for a window seat but that's OK.

I ordered French toast.  Hum, that's what I had yesterday for breakfast.  No problem.  When I had a job in Milwaukee, I went out for lunch at Micky D. and ordered a Big Mac, fries and a chocolate shake everyday for three months.

Clela never does eats big breakfast like I do.

We needed to get somethings from the grocery store.  Now you can't just do chore's with the Art and Craft show across the street.  Since we were getting some frozen items we went to the show first.

Finally it's here.  Temps of 80 blue skies.  So far this is what we wanted for the last three weeks.  Oh my I didn't take many pics.  We didn't buy anything.  We went to the store, bought our food and went back to our condo.  As we ate lunch the wind grow stronger. That stopped us from any more outdoor activity.  So the laundry got done.  We had quiche for dinner. That was our day. See you soon.

A Saturday Road Trip

A Saturday Road Trip
March 9th 2019

I think I should be talking about the wind and rain, if it's not both it's just wind.  You do know what we get here is what you get just in a different form.  Woke up later than usual and decided to take a trip, our first trip this year.

I took this picture that shows the sun coming over the mountain and hitting the tops of the palm trees.  Since there is little to eat, we are keeping less food because we will be home by Friday morning.

Clela made french toast.

We got dressed and stopped at the ABC store for gas and we are off.  Coming into Lahaina we started to hit heavy traffic, more then usual.

What happens is they build four lanes, two each way and merge them down to one.  Then because of small turn lanes sometimes this slows down traffic.  They keep building on to resorts and very little with inter structure.  Anyway, this was not that bad.  It took us about an hour and a half to reach Paia.  We always put this place in our island travel.  Part of it is the old hippie feel, lots of art and what we now call hippy dippy.  Now don't get me wrong what you see is also expensive.  Clothing is very high end as well as jewelry and art.  Can't stop us from looking and sometimes we buy.  New places in old stores pop up all the time.  I just saw that our Gelato store has moved.

It's time to eat.  Most times we go to the Fish Market for lunch but today we went across the street for Mexican food.

The place   looks huge but it is not.  Most people liked to eat outside, but we were hungry so we went inside.  Hey it was 1:30 and you know me I'm a noon lunch and 6:00 supper kind of guy so maybe I needed to eat.

I had a cheese Quesadilla and it was good.

Clela had a pork taco ,lots of food.  The food was good.  Something new. Notice that all the resturants are using paper straws   After eating we went to

Hookipa Beach Park.  The wind was so intense and so were the waves.  At this park we watch the kite surfers jumping over huge waves.  Don't forget to click on these pictures are amazing.

There are some people go down on the rocks to get close to the waves.

Some of the crazies turn their backs to the waves. Bad idea.

We even saw someone swimming in these huge waves to catch a wave.  When he did he would ride the top of the wave or body suicide surfing.  Okay I added suicide.  It was crazy.  The first time I saw him I thought he lost his board.  There he was catching waves and body surfing.  We are talking about 15 to 20 foot waves.  When he did catch on the wave would throw him maybe 50 feet.

There were turtles and seals below on the beach area.  We tried to drive down there for pics but there was no place to park.  So we headed back to our condo.  Talk about traffic jams, we were in one huge backup.  It started in Kahului all the way to just outside Lahania. It took us two and a half hours to get back to our condo.  The Kahului Airport rents out 2000 car a day and they keep building new resorts. Too crowded! Well that was our day.  See you soon.

Duke Kahanamoku

Duke Kahanamoku
Friday March 8th 2019

Good morning!  Looks like a beautiful day.  Take a good look at the lounge chairs around the pool.

All the lounge chairs are down because we are expecting winds up to 35 mph with gust up to 50 mph.  I have been hit by the upper part of the chair and it hurts.  We ate breakfast indoors today.

Wow, that was a big breakfast, but so good.  Our goal for this morning was to find a place that was out of the wind.  Yesterday we found where the old gazebo was.  We could be in or out of the sun and with no wind we found the ideal place.

We sat there for a little over an hour, before going up to change.  We are going out to Duke's.  Thanks to Kathy and Wes, our Christmas gift.  This is one of our favorite places to eat.

We got all dressed up, probably in the same clothes as last year.  Hey If isn't worn out and still looks good, wear it.  Okay next year we will try something new.  Na I wear clothes until they fall apart.  Anyway, Dukes was named after a great surfer Duke Kahanamoku.
We always order a special drink.  One Lava Flow and one margarita.  Nothing special but what a drink.

This margarita had the best Tequila.  This place is beautiful place.

I do like to order Fish Tacos and Clela had a salad.

After lunch we watched a movie on Netflix and then went down to watch the sunset.  Still looking for that perfect sunset.

So that was our day.  See you soon.
