-Flash Flood Watch-

At he start of the day, it looked like a very promising day, There was a chance for a warm sunny day.  Oh no!

I knew that warnings had been issued. But like in the past, they never came to fruition. After all, I could see clear blue skies, maybe a chance of sunshine.

The pool was being cleaned and a women sat by, perhaps waiting for the pool cleaning to be finished or perhaps, just resting after a strenuous walk.

We had a big breakfast on the lanai. That's when we heard that annoying screech of an alarm being broadcasted throughout the resort.  Like  when watching 

TV and the message comes at just the wrong time. 

 This was something different this year.  I guess they want everyone to hear the alert. The problem is when you are on the 9th floor all you could hear is screech beep, beep beep then some mumbo-jumbo followed by beep, beep, beep. Screech beep, beep, beep.  By now kids are playing in the pool, laughing .  There parents are not getting their kids out of the water, nobody is running, things look normal.  There is this old guy who always dresses in the same outfit shuffling along.

 

He is coming back from where ever he goes, same time, same walk and the same determined stride.  Beep, beep, beep. Okay something is going on.  I went to my phone and the weather app and sure enough, there it was, a warning - Small craft warning, Flooding warning and also high wind warnings.  

After lunch the dark rain clouds started rolling in, a sure ominous sign for rain.

It kept getting darker and darker and then it started with a light Hawaiian rain leading to a huge down poor. We are now socked in.

What to do?  Clela got out her IPad and we watched a movie. Operation Finally.  If you can watch it. It was a good movie.  It was an WWII movie about the capture of Eichmann in South America. 

 

In the back ground I could hear Beep, Beep, Beep.  By the end of the movie there was banners running on the top of the TV.  Stay away from Paia the stream is rising, the dam has been breached.  Water is coming over the top and the dam might collapse. In Paia school was canceled because of the threat.  Willy Nelson has a restaurant there. If you go up to Makawao you can drive pass Opra's house. Parts of the main road has been collapse.  The dam did not collapse, but more rain is predicted for tomorrow.  

After the news we ate a salad with chicken on top.
