Swim, Flowers And Sunset

Another Friday in Maui, it's a good place to be. I just wanted to give you a sequence of photos.

From the threat of rain with big rain clouds, to a beautiful day.  It was cool and windy outside so we had breakfast inside.

Lots of fruit, I'm big into fruit. In a normal week six pounds of berries, Strawberries, Raspberries and Blueberries.

After eating Clela and I put on our swimming suits and went down to the pool.  Whenever we look for places to sit all or most good places are gone.  For us, we need shade for Clela and sun for me.  We went down around noon, thinking the kids will need to eat lunch and the babies will nap.  We guessed right.  At first we found a table with two chairs and then we moved to two lounge chairs. I took off my shirt and went right in.  There's no good way for us to get in, I take a couple steps in and then dive, this will either kill me with shock or I'll be okay.  Well I guess I'm alive, the water was cool not cold.  Now Clela takes a different approach.  She goes real slow, I mean real slow once she gets in she is okay.

Here are some photos I took in the water.

Some of these photos were taken from a video I made while walking through the water.

We spent about an hour in the water.  We dried off and went back to our condo.  We ate lunch, our usual sandwich on the lanai with a warm, shaded view.  I wish I could bottle this up and take it home when we leave.

After a rest and our audio story we set out for a walk.  When we leave we always check the mountains, if there was rain we would knew it soon would be here. There was rain and Clela was reluctant to go, but we did go.  There is a resort next to us called Ka'anapali Beach Club. We did stay there once with Glen and Mary.  We wanted to see how the resort is coming out of the restriction of the pandemic. Here are some pics.

They spent a lot of money to reclaim there beach area.  They took huge sand bags to prevent erosion, added grass to hold it in place.   What you didn't see is that the ocean had started to take the wall apart.  Sad to see.  Hope they get some vegetation growing.  Our beach never did come back.

I would say things look bleak.  We use to walk over early in the morning to find all the chairs around the huge pool with towels on them.  People would put their towel on a chair to reserve it, we used to see this in Florida.  All those lounge chairs were always perfectly aligned.  You know all that resort had is that pool.  We think ours has more beautiful.

On the way back I did get some nice flower pictures.

We had a simple supper of a hamburger and Sweet chicken nuggets.

No catchup, just ranch dressing. That was our night but before I let you go here are some sunset pictures.

See ya.

Tsunami

This morning Clela and I are going out for breakfast, so far coffee is on the agenda.  Sitting on the lanai drinking our coffee here is our view.

We don't know if it's going to rain or not.  This is what we deal with every morning.  Ok this is 100% better than to see all that snow. Clela said the bird is back and sure enough there it was sitting on top of some trees.

The bird is in the bottom left corner.  Then we saw it fly over in front of the pond. Some people stopped to see the bird as it sits on a rock waiting to see a fish swim by.

Here again you will have to click on the photo to enlarge it.
About this time Clela went in to take a shower and I sat down to work on the computer.  Okay I was playing my five game challenge when I got a voice alert on my phone that there was a Tsunami warning out for Hawaii.  I have never got an alert on my phone here, but I do get lots of voice alerts at home.  I pulled out my phone and open my weather app to view this report.

I told Clela about the warning and went out to text the girls and family. The girls started texting back with concern.  I told them I was not worried but that this was our excitement for the day and right in the middle of me texting an all clear report for the Hawaiian Islands (each island is considered an county).

We finish getting dressed and went down to our Beach Club Restaurant for breakfast all the time wondering if the Tsunami could still come.

We had a good view like the last time we were here.  We ordered, Clela ordering fried rice with scrambled eggs on top.  She also had a  strong Bloody Mary.

I ordered Hawaiian French toast and OJ.

Sorry everyone again I started to eat before taking this photo.  I had three pieces of French toast.  I took the one that I started to eat on the bottom, stuck some berries on top and took this photo.  What a mess. I did eat all three pieces. It was filling so no lunch today.

After listen to the conclusion to our audio book (which was great) we sat out on the lanai.  Clela looking out said "what's that in the water that black thing?",  I said without looking that it was scuba divers and there was a ring with a flag on it to tell where they were under water.  We got our binoculars out and I said that was Moses.  I talked about Moses before.  In the last six- eight years people have called 911 at least ten times thinking he was drowning   When he did the back stroke people though he was drowning.  A couple years ago we watched the rescue squad, life guards and the police they were all there. As he was coming in he refused help.  Well, there he was with the high winds and strong waves. He was coming back from his two mile swim.  I took a photo of him as he walked back,  I found out he lives somewhere across the street.

Still sitting out there with our after noon drink we saw a guy straightening out his parachute lines, there must be 20 or more lines. I didn't see his board though.

He would
straightening some lines out then let the wind grab it to check it out.  This took a long time.  Once it was all straight he packed it up.  That was a lot work but it is beautiful to see on the water.
For supper we had sweet and sour chicken.

I wanted to take pics of the sunset, but I was to late.  Sometimes the after photos are really good. here are a couple.

That was our day, see ya.

The Golden Ticket

Today I though  I would show you what two hours looks like in the morning.

Quite a difference right?

We are eating breakfast on the lanai this morning. Can you believe it no rain, no wind and warm enough to eat outside. We had cereal with strawberries, orange juice and coffee, nothing special.  You know we need to go out for breakfast more.  Can't have something new every morning.

Here we are, once again, not doing much in the morning.  Two loads of laundry, clean sheets, and somehow time passes. We were ready to get the groceries. I was just about out the door, when I finally looked at the time 12:15.  Hey we should eat first before going.

Now we are ready to go.  Surprise we have the Golden Ticket to the Maui Chocolate Factory.

Yes Willy Wonka and all.  We set our GPS and off we went.  After getting lost for about two minutes we arrived.

There was art work being delivered to the company and we got in following a guy.  The door was made of Iron wood and acrylic.  That is a trend to make table tops but not doors.  That door had a key pad and by following the artist, we went in. This place is really new.

Neat, but at times I thought we were buying jewelry.  Oh the packages in the back were coffee. We bought a sample bag of chocolate to try.  Okay it is smooth as silk.

After saying goodbye, we got our groceries and headed back to our condo.  We did get a good deal of water, the only trouble was it weighted a ton.  The resort was nice enough to give us a cart to bring everything up to the condo.  We also made a stop at the store down below. Didn't get out much so we went down and sat in what I might call the forest.  All different trees and plants.  You have banana trees, different palm trees flowers, and even  papaya trees.

By the waterfall there was a bird that was going fishing with the fish in the pond.

The bird blends in very well and like the bird we saw the other day he is well fed and does not move.

Ate leftovers and watched the sunset and this was our day, see ya.

Wind, Wind Will It Ever Stop Blowing

If the moon can shine, can blue skies turn to rain in five minutes, will the strong wind stop blowing at 55mph and is the world flat. The answer to that my friend is blowing in the wind. Gee that phrase could be part of a song.  The real answer is yes, yes, don't know and no. That's your typical day for us.

There is that moon again.

Once again the wind is determining eating inside or outside.  Well you guessed it, boy you are good.

You also guessed it once again crepes filled with fresh strawberries and whipped cream on top. I'm getting better with the whipped cream.  Looks like I forgot to take a photo before eating.

At this point I'm setting here thinking what did we do this morning. Turns out we got up late this morning and ate breakfast late. We did a couple loads of wash, seems like I said that yesterday.  Well that's real life.  It's not all sitting on the beach reading a book.  Okay I'm not reading a book but Clela has one and she reads it everyday.  What am I doing? People watching.  Love to watch the little kids.

Lunch time and left overs.

This was real good last night and great again today.

Once again we still behind again, but so what.  There is no time table.  This is a real change for me, you know the person who gets up at 6:30 and has a breakfast before seven, who eats lunch at noon and last eats supper either before the 5:30 or after the news at 6:00.  Yup that's me.

Well we are not talking about supper now.  Clela was cold in the condo.  We try to keep the patio doors open slightly so the air condition does not turn on.  I said let's go out it is warmth.  I said we should go swimming.  Clela with her coat on said really.  I got my swimming suit on and said let's go. Reluctantly she put her swimming suit on and off we went.  We went to the large pool by the ocean.  It had a nice enclosure around the pool to protect from the wind. It was nice and warm.  We must have sat down there for an hour. We had plans of going into Lahaina but like our whole day time was running out so we decided to go another day.  Since we had our suits on and there no real shade here we headed back to the small pool where we could watch the little kids run around.  We found two chairs and some cover from the sun.  The wind is really blowing here.  You have shade but there is no protection from the wind. Clela started to get cold so she got a towel out for her legs.

Hey since I'm down here I said I'm going to check out the pool to see how warm the water is.

It's cool and with the wind blowing no way was I going swimming.

In the mean time I'm getting cold so I moved to the other side of her to move into the sun.  Clela never wants to be in the sun but she still was cold so I gave her my chair and I took hers and turned it around so we both were in the sun.  After enjoying the warm sun and the goose bumps on my arm that was it and we went up to our condo.

For supper we hit the food trucks for Mexican food.

Quesadilla and Clela had Burrito.  They both were very good even though Clela's does not look good.  We both ate about half and I'm sure we will eat the rest tomorrow.  That was our day, see ya

 Wind, Rain Then Sun

Got up early this morning with a little sleep.  Last night was a bummer, with the window rattling and rain coming down in big drops.  Slept the last hour and a half in a chair in the living room.

Here are some morning photos.

Here you have blue skies and five minutes later the fog rolls in and the rain starts.  That's is what the day was like.

We started the morning we had a bagel and a cup of coffee. Oh was I suppose to take a photo?

That was not butter on top, it was Clela's Lilkoi-Passion Fruit, cream Cheese don't you know.  For breakfast we had a simple scrambled eggs with sliced ham.

After a brief shower I started looking for a rainbow and look what I found.

Sure enough, you see it, a double rainbow.  Look what a beautiful the day it turned out to be. Cross your fingers.

Oh take a look out there's a boat way out there.  This morning I saw the same boat going out on a whale watching tour.  The waves the huge and the boat was dipping up and down.  I'm thinking you have to be use to all that up and down movement.  I could stand some, but not all that.  Well here they are way out there.

You will have to click on the photo to make the boat larger.  These tour boats have been docking at the Whaler just by the Hulu Grill.  There will be a lot of green people when it pulls in.

This morning was a day for laundry. This led into lunch decisions.  We were thinking of packing some sandwiches and heading to a beach. The changing weather caused us to nix the picnic.  We thought Fleming Beach where there would be super high waves would also have sand blowing all over everything.  Our favorite beach is not open because of road work next to the beach. So we jumped in the car and went a little past our favorite beach to a small park.  here are some photos.

The sand was darker with a mix of black sand.

The first photo you are starting to see a harbor just outside Lahaina.  Not to many people. We drove back to our condo after spending about two hours. It's afternoon drink time.  Looks like the end of our Pina Colada.

This ran into supper time. Clela made some Ravioli with some fresh zucchini, it was so good.

I had seconds of both.  That was our day, see ya.
