A Good Day

Friday March 13th 2020
Well here we are Friday the 13th.  The days seem to start the same with rain in the morning and sun in the afternoon. 

Now doesn't that look let an all socked in day.  Here is the forecast for the next week.

How about that rain each day.  It's warn now, so we decided to eat on the lani.  

Clela made a big breakfast. I got my binoculars on the table just in case I can see the perfect full breach.  Now that doesn't make much since.  Think while having one eye on my food and the other on some place on the ocean.  Now you got to pick up the binoculars up and focus on that whale in the air. Okay, not going to happen.  Sometimes a whale will breach twice.  You know I have tried to catch a whale with a camera.  Does not work.  Hey, I have caught a whale in it's breach with 10 shots but when you look at the pictures they look like some little dot in motion skipping across the ocean.  Better yet, like a bug jumping across the lake, the big lake.  

Sometimes it's great to see a father and daughter first time at the pool.  He is showing how to pour water from a toy watering can.

For lunch we ate our food from last night.

Good food even tho it is re-heated. 
Hey, here is something that doesn't fit in my blog but it's nice to see, special trash bags.

We also have all paper straws here.  There are still some plastic bags.

Later in the day we went down to the ocean and under Clela's tree,

The wind was blowing and Clela was cold. I did try to catch a little sun tho.

Well we lost the sun and the wind was blowing and the rain started.  Thus up we went to our condo.

Not much going on so it was movie time.

We have our drink and a movie.   When we close the curtains it does get dark in here.

Okay it's 90 minutes later and when we open the curtains, low and behold the sun is out, people are tanning and the weather is beautiful.

For supper we had ravioli.

And that was the end of the day, beautiful sunset.

Dressing Up

Thursday March 12th 2020*
* Today is special day for Clela and myself.  On this day our daughter was born.  I remember it like it was yesterday.  She was born at St Joseph in Milwaukee.  It was a beautiful spring day.  Clela was given a shot and it all went fast.  The nurses asked me if I wanted to come into the delivery room I said no. I  think because it went so fast I was worried that something would go wrong I didn't want to be there.  I think she was born at 2:30 in the morning, a beautiful girl.  The next day I stopped at the florist for flowers.  Oh by the way spring was gone. We had a ton of snow.

*Today is also a special day because our granddaughter on this day, was born at  Aurora West Allis  Medical Center, in the morning, I think.  We had her older two sisters  with us when we went to see her.  A beautiful girl.  I remember walking in the room and there she was.  Each of her older sisters each holding her.  It was a warm spring day. I also remember sometime later feeding her a she always wanted to see what her two sisters were doing.  Sometimes when she was sleeping one eye would open to check on what her two sisters were up to.  It was like I can't wait until she could join them. 

   I try to take a picture that captions what the day is going to be like.  Rain!

A lot of days start like this.  This one is no different, but we got up late.  It was a warm day with a very light wind blowing so we ate on the lani.  

Hey what more do I need.  You got Jimmy, papaya, Orange juice and some coffee, I mean what more does a guy want. 

  We did some wash and before you know it it's lunch time.  I have this obsession that I must eat when it's noon.  

 When on Maui you must have Maui chips.  Hmm, is that another obsession?

After lunch and of course a rest, Wink, wink, we decided to go to our beach.  It was here we had a nice talk with Sam on her birthday and of course we sang happy birthday to her. While FaceTiming I gave her a tour of our beach and why we call it Cemetery Beach.

We had this large ring around the sun.  We had to google it and it is formed by ice crystals around the sun.  Maybe someone could tell us why we got this all most black and white photo.  We stayed there for about two hours and return to our condo.  Clela and I decided we were going to eat out, you know dress up and everything.

Not bad for us two old farts, right?  We had fun taking this picture.  Off we went.  It was a short walk to the restraint down below.  We got there and they gave us and outdoor table. 

 We ordered our drinks, Their version of Blue Hawaiian.  You know this pic looks like a mirrored view, but it is not.

Can you believe that this Hawaiian start playing and it is our favorite song, White Sandy Beach, sung by Israel Kamakawiwoole, you know IZ. 
 I saw you in my dreams
We were walking hand and hand
On a white sandy beach
Of Hawaii.

Love that song.

We ordered our food. Clela had Catch of the day. I think it was Ahi.

A Little Of This And That

Wednesday March 11th 2020

This morning the housekeeper came in early so there was no time to have that morning brew.  By 9:00 we were out the door.  We went across the street for breakfast. Java Jazz.  When you walk in the music was playing and if you looked at the people you could be in Havana Cuba.  Here you will find most of the walls are covered with pictures of people have been here before.  Most of the photos are Polaroid. Sprinkled with abstract paintings.

We ordered our food.

I had two large pancakes with apple compotes.  Okay I forgot again to give you a before pic.

Clela had a veggie omelet.  Well I didn't show you an empty plate.  I'll try harder next time.

We went to the farmer market and picked up some pineapple, papaya and banana bread.  After the farmers market we went across the street to that small park.  It's a great place for kids to play.

Here is a young girl playing in a tide pool. got sand, check, got a shovel, check and got a pail. She is working hard.  When she is in the water she splashes and has a good time.  She is sitting next to a coral ledge.  When the tide is out it's a good place to play.

Off we went to Safeway for some items.  Had a great phone call from Kathy.  
Lunch time.    

We just had sandwiches and pineapple.  

Later we went down to whale watch, but it look like rain so we went into garden to find shelter under tiki hut.  First we had to find chairs that didn't have bird crap on them. We found two  that were clean.  

No rain so we went down to the ocean.    Not too many whales today.  What we did see was rain forming an hour glass.  Don't know if you can see it.

For supper we had Chicken Kung Pau.  You didn't know I speak Chinese?  I've got many hidden talents don't you know.  Well that needless to say was our day.See Ya,

Paddle Little One,Paddle

Tuesday March 10th 2020

There was a time long a go, when while spending our vacation in Kauai, where the sun came bursting over the mountain range and the moon was still up.  We bought a sweat shirt that showed both the sun and the moon in Kauai.  We had a full moon last night and low and behold it has happen again to us.

It's about seven in the morning, with the sun coming over the mountains shining brightly on our day.  There, there it is the moon over the waters Lanai.  I think you can see and feel and see the brightness and freshness of the day.

It was warn with little wind this morning so we decided to eat on the lani.  Most mornings we go quick and simple.

Today we have Belgian Style Waffles.  Now this product is not Eggo's, but wait the box shows ticker than Eggo's.  Well we will see.

Well here is the pouf, they are and they taste the same.  Well how about that sports fans.

While sitting on the Lani and drinking my coffee, I saw something unusual.  There were two long boarders going in front of our resort.  I got my binoculars out, you know I always have them close by.  The first long boarder, a women, was cruising along.  The second long boarder was in the water.

As I look closer, I could see a very young child.  The father was trying to get back on the board.  Sorry about the quality of the picture.  The women finally stopped  paddling and sat down on her board.  She looked back only to see her husband in the water and their child with paddle in hand trying to help.  Instead she lays down on her back for at least 5 minutes before turning over and  paddling back to them.  She arrived back by her husband and child.  She in my opinion did nothing to help.  He tried to get back on the long board and could not.  He even put the child in the water  and tried to get back on the board with little results.
Plan "B".  He put the child back on the board and swam to the back and paddled while the child paddled.  That didn't work because they were not making much headway.
Plan "C".  They started to make some head way by the father giving the long board a push and swimming back to the board, with the little child paddling. With exhaustion settling in, the father.  After a short rest it beginning once again the father pushing and the child paddling. At this point they went behind a big tree and they were no longer insight.  When they came back into view the father was on the board.  There is a bunch to coral out there, so maybe he could stand on one to get back on the long board.  What can you say to those parents. I would say you F.... idiots.  You should be arrested for child neglect.  Humm, can you arrest then for being stupid?

We ate lunch having a sandwich and some potato salad.

After lunch and a short rest we went down to the ocean and sat under our favorite tree.  Later we headed back to our condo . Well Clela stayed down by the restaurant and I went back to our condo.  It's Hula night.I got some money and went back down where she found us some lounge chairs.  Before the show starts they sell punch and rum drinks I got two,  As he was poring he said you take this one.  okay.  Now everybody knows we don't drink much.
 The show started with music and then then into hula dancers.  The first performer was a little keki .  In Hawaiian language. That means a little child.

From the youngest to the oldest.

Yes this performer was here the first time we came here to this island exclusive, that was the early 2000.  How about that.
That was our day because I can't remember what we had for supper or anything.  Okay I had one drink at the show.  Just a little punch and rum.  Now I know why when making the drinks he said you better take this one.
