Tuesday February 21st 2017- Can You Believe It My 100th Blog

Tuesday February 21st  2017- Can You Believe It  My 100th Blog
Good morning on our last full day on Maui.  THE WIND IS STILL BLOWING.  Everything else was great.

We ate breakfast in side again, bummer.

Today was all about eating what is left in the refrigerator.  That meant Basic 4 and lots of strawberries.

After eating we went down to whale watch.  The wind was blowing but we sat there.  The waves were so high all I saw was white caps.  It was cold out here.  Being macho I just sat there with goose bumps on my arms and my hair standing straight up, but I'm not cold.  Clela wasn't cold at all.  Can you believe it?

A large gust of wind almost blew us off our chairs and that was enough.  We tried setting by the large pool but that wasn't much better.  That was it, up stairs we went.

For lunch today we went to Dukes.  A beautiful walk in.

This is the walk that goes all the way into the Whaler Mall and beyond.
We arrived and walked in.

We had a short wait until we were seated.  Again we had a beautiful view.  We ordered our drinks.  Clela had a Koloa Mojito and I had Dukes Lemonade.

We ordered lunch, Clela had a salad and Crispy Coconut Shrimp. Should have said Coconut Shrimp Balls.  I ordered Roasted Turkey, Bacon, Brie and a salad.  Sorry no pics. Got to go and pack now.

Thank you for all my hundred blogs, some were funny and some were sad.  Sometimes I did a very good job giving you a very good description of our day. Just a some small insight into my wacky mind as I see things.  Thanks again and I hope you be with me for my next 100 blogs.

Monday February 20th 2017 - So Much To Do, So Many Places To Go

Monday February 20th 2017 - So Much To Do, So Many Places To Go
Good morning everyone, it took some time for the sun to shine.

It's a long way down.  We know this will be a great day because we have our own rainbow.

Too windy to eat outside.  The Trade Winds are very constant and at least 40 mph.

Here we have cheesy scrambled eggs with tomato's.  A Clela creation.

Today we wanted to go many places.  We were going up to the blow hole, to the beach, up to Paia and down to the ocean to watch for whales.  It was cold and by having wind blow at 40 mph, it's hard, but we tried.  We had trouble hanging on to our hats.  So Clela said lets pack lunch and go to Cemetery Beach.  We wanted to find an area with no wind.  We got to the beach and there was no wind blowing.  This beach is about two miles from our condo.

We looked at the ocean, toward our condo, and you could see a line in the ocean of calm water and white caps on the other half.  This was a very busy beach today.  There seems to be a greater influx of people.  I could kick myself for not bringing my snorkel  with me this year.  People were five feet off shore seeing turtles and fish.

So many places to go and so little time.  We were about to leave intending to go to the blow hole.  Clela, my sensibility sensor,  said let's go back to the condo, rest and just go into Lahaina.

After resting, we decided to go to Lahaina and to Cheese Burger In Paradise.  Off we went. Of course when in  Cheese Burger In Paradise you order a cheese burger.  The waitress notice my Packer hat and said she was from Reedsburg Wisconsin.  I told her Kathy and Reagan went to Reedsburg for Reagan's prom dress.  She said she got her dress there too.

After eating we went outside and waited for the sun to set.  While waiting I took a selfie of us.  I think I'm getting better.

We will keep trying.  Here is the sunset or is it.

They are all beautiful.  That was our day, one more day here, so see you tomorrow.

Sunday February 19th 2017 - Would You Believe Elvis Was In The House

Sunday February 19th 2017 -  Would You Believe Elvis Was In The House
Woke up this morning a little off my game.  As Clela would call was moody and grouchy.  Okay maybe she was right.  It was a cloudy day and cold.

We got some rain last night and the trade winds were blowing.  You know hold on to your little kid type day.  We ate inside.

We had a choice today we could eat in the restaurant, get dressed and go out and eat or go down stairs and buy something frozen.  We  chose the Eggo and a paper, no paper we were to late by 9.

Have you taken a good look at Eggo's?  Ya, that's right they are not only smaller in diameter and thickness.  There is a little known fact that if you leave them in the toaster to long you can use them as a hammer yes, a hammer.  They are so hard you can't cut them with a serrated knife.  Oh if your lucky to have a hacksaw that will do and you can even eat the sawdust.
We went into Lahaina for lunch.  The Paia Fish Market was our destination.  This restaurant once was Burger King.  As in the town of Paia there was a line out the door.

Set up the same way, you order then find a place at a picnic table and wait to hear your number called.  By luck we found a place inside near the kitchen so we could hear.  The only thing different between there and here when your number called you went up to get your food. Here they brought it out to you.  We both ordered a Toco Fish.  Oh no Kathy I again forgot to take a pic.  Anyway it's more about the people you talk to at your table.  We met a couple from Lafayette Indiana, you know home of Purdue University.  He just happen to be a Packer fan.  He was really up on the basketball.  Wisconsin and Purdue are tied in the Big Ten.

From there we went across the street to view all the art under the Banyan tree.

If you hadn't known this the whole art show is under one tree.  One city block.

When your is close to the docks you got to go down for a look.  Okay Clela had to go..

Time to go back to our condo.
We just made one stop at Foodland to find something for supper.

The Elvis impersonator was giving a short appearance down by the large pool.  Clela had to drag me down.  He sings three or four songs and promotes his show in  Lahaina. Show tickets are very expensive so we never went.

He sang his three songs and promotes his show and was ready to pack up and this guy said I'll give a hundred dollars for the food pantry for him to sing more.  He sang four more songs and the same guy gave another one hundred dollars if he would sing more and he did.  After over an hour and a another hundred the show was over.  His show is an hour and a half in  Lahaina.
Before the show we talked to a guy who was from Minnesota.  Before moving to Minnesota he lived in Wauwatosa.  He said there is some more people here from Wisconsin.  They said they were from Hartland and we said we are from Sussex.  I said my two daughters went to Arrowhead and he said he taught at the high school.  After the show I asked him what did he teach and he said Tech Ed and of course I told him I was a Tech ED teacher at Brookfield Central.  The world is getting smaller.  I'll have to find out his name next time I see him.
We came back up to our condo and Clela made supper.

We had barbecue chicken and potato mac salad.  Clela also had a Musubi, rice, spam and sea weed.  Okay that's okay to eat, not fishy.  That was our day and it is getting short now, so see you tomorrow.

Saturday February 18th 2017 --- Refections

Saturday February 18th 2017 - Reflections
Here it is Saturday morning and I'm starting my blog in the actually in the morning.  Maybe I should have made the topic trade winds or lack of.  But it's morning, the day just started.  For breakfast we ate out on the balcony.

I was so excited to get papaya back that I didn't show what Clela had.  She ate a breakfast a El Monterey Breakfast Burrito with papaya.  We had a pleasant surprise by seeing a young whale just off shore.  The whale was just swimming along slowly.  I don't think the mother could have come in this close because it wasn't that deep.

Our third week is almost over.  Well maybe I'm reflecting to early, we do have four days left.  We did very little traveling  this year, makes it less to blog about.  However when I first started blogging it was just to tell you about our activities of the day.  Clela with her back had a goal and that was just to make it down to the ocean and back and she has done that and more.  Got to say we were a fine couple when we arrived we both had back problems.  Since then mine flairs up now and then, but mine is not even close to her problems.  I feel very lucky.  We both worry about each other.

We have a plan for the day, ahead of time, can you believe it.  First we are going down to the ocean, next we are going to the Whaler and lunch.

Can you believe it we got down there and there were two chairs for us.  You can always tell it's the weekend because of all the activity on the ocean.  There were people on long boards, some standing and some sitting.  There were people in outriggers looking for whales.

People were walking off shore in shallow water looking for shells.
The thing we watched the most was a couple packing a kayak with loads of supplies.  Looks like they were going over to Molokai to camp out.  It looks like a long way.  Google said about 25 miles.

Off they went on there journey.  We watch them travel across sometimes stopping to rest.  You know all the time there were out there, we saw no whales.  We stayed there until 11:30 and went up to change.

Just look what a beautiful day it is.

We changed and went to the Whaler Mall to eat.  You know we are creatures of habit.  I notice on Facebook that we went to the Whaler this day last year only we to Hula Girl instead of Leilanis restaurant.  We had a wonderful spot so we could people watch.  We got our drinks, and were waiting for our food when a group of boys were showering, you to wash your feet or body after coming out of the ocean.  If you don't wash off you end up with sticky salt all over.  Well you could tell these guys had an attitude.  On guy carried it further, he took off his swimming suit bare butt and all.  They wanted attention and we didn't give them any.  Hey these kids were not poor.  Where are the police when you need them.
Anyway Clela ordered a grilled moon fish sandwich with a Jicama salad.

I had Kaluha pork sandwich with fries.

We did some shopping and went back to our condo.  We sat down for a shot rest, changed our clothes to swimming suits and went down for a swim.  We somehow always go down for a swim too late to return our towels.  That's okay.

Our day came to an end.  Sure seems like we just woke up and realized time is short and we finally realize there is so many things we wanted to do.

Supper was small.  Clela always comes up with something.

Ham sandwich, hard boiled eggs and potato mac salad.
See you tomorrow.

Friday February 17th 2017 - Hawaiian Lunch Plate

Friday February 17th 2017 - Hawaiian Lunch Plate
Good morning once again a beautiful day.  We have been getting weather warnings all day not for snow, not for rain but for wind.  We will seeing the wind all weekend and into next week.

We hope by next year this palm tree will have grown out of our view.
Three times a week there is a yoga class early in the morning.

You know our routine by now.  Coffee on the balcony, eating breakfast outside if warm and reading the Milwaukee Journal.

We have a lot of stops this morning before lunch.  So off we go, our first stop was the Farmers Market.

Today was a very busy day for the market.  We often park across the street in the small park, but not today.  We parked down the street in a strip mall.
We were looking for a couple of papayas, and some apple bananas, We never leave with just what we were looking for.  We added a tomato some banana bread.

Now to Lahaina for some of our Maui grown Peaberry coffee.  Hey if you Goggle mauigrowncoffee.com you can see were the coffee grow.  They have plots with million dollar homes.  On each plot coffee is grown around the house.  Sometimes I do forget I'm blogging so I should to take pictures.

Okay I took these pictures from their web site.  After the coffee we went to the Foodland grocery store.
As we went in there was two Hawaiian women selling Hawaiian Lunch Plates.

All they said would you like to sample our food to Clela and they had us hooked.  They got us trying everything.  There was so much food I thought we didn't need any lunch.  Here was the deal, you could have any three choices of meat, rice and a salad for $11 dollars.  So we picked three and came back for our order after we payed.  We finished shopping and went back to our condo. On our way we notice a small beach we never went to.  Clela always called it baby beach because It was a good place for small children to play in the water.  Clela said we should go back to the condo put on our suits make some sandwiches and go to that beach.  It is always hard to gather up everything but we did, we are getting better at it.  Off we went.

The name of the park was Wahikuli Wayside Park.  We found a picnic table and had lunch.  Here is what the park looks like.

A party was going on in front of us.  All the kids were less than five and having fun running around.  You can see it was getting a little windy.
I'm always looking for some good camera shots and found a couple.

After staying here for a couple hours we drove back to our condo.  We put away our chairs away and went down to the pool for a swim.  Boy we did a lot already today.  You know we always said we swam so we took some pictures.

By this time most people are packing up for the day, but not today, the pool was packed.  We only send a half hour swinming and go back up for supper.

We going to have an Hawaiian Lunch Plate for supper.  When Clela told the ladies we were going to have the lunch plate for supper they gave her a funny look.  This is what it looked like before we heated it up.

Now most people would get this plate and go outside and eat it.  You have barbecue chicken Teriyaki beef and steak.
Well that was our day.  See you tomorrow.
