2016 A new day

It's a new day, the sun is shining, the birds are singing and Dads are up early with their kids.

Down by the Koi pond. Everything is right and righteous with the world.
OMG, what is this? This is not eggs, it is not pancakes, no waffle, no papaya and the best part there is no spam. OMG is this a sign it's over? Does this mean the sun won't be shining and the birds won't be singing when we get home. No flowers blooming. Holy Moly, I'll have to put socks on and cover my feet with shoes.  OMG, well one good thing the bananas are indeed Apple bananas.

We did it, this morning we went over to the realtor and signed up for next year. Three weeks the first of February.

So we are set. Seems funny but in a way it's a relief knowing we have a place. It's getting real crazy here people are signing up early, some even for 2018.
Maybe that will make coming back easier.  We're moving on up like the Jeffersons (okay how many of you remember the Jeffersons)?  Stopped by and got some food for tonight, so we are set.
The morning was over so we ate lunch.
Just another sandwich and a little banana bread. We listen to more of Harry Bosch . The story is starting to rap up so its is exciting. Now it's 1:15 and we are going the Cemetery Beach. You know when there is a good rain all that water runs through the cemetery and says Mahalo to all the Hawaiian legends that built this great island as it enters the sea. Ah that's a wonderful feeling, to know your swimming with greatness. Oh didn't I tell you we never swim here especially after a rain. This is our beach today.

People long boarding.
We always stay close to the life guard.

People snorkeling.

These people are pros. Look close and you will see their feet never touch the sand. They have a large mat that clovers all of them.

It was not a good day on my part.  First of all I forgot my binoculars. Well now that I think about it I really didn't need them, maybe once when we saw a whale that was close into shore. Next I wore my wrong shoes. No water shoes. We decided to go for a walk along the beach to look for sea glass. So I took off my shoes and headed for the shore line. I took five steps and realized my feet were hot so I walked faster.  Ow a my feet were burning ah walk faster. MY FEET ARE ON FIRE. I started to run faster, faster I'm almost there, ow hot ow hot. It felt like the bottom of my feet were pealing off.  Run faster ah finally the water ow ah it cold. Okay you could see my feet smoking. Look at these feet
Are they red like they look?  Yes they are. We walked the beach and found very little sea glass and my feet are burning. Now I've got to get BACK.  WE FOUND TWO LITTLE PIECES OF SEA GLASS FOR ALL THE TROUBLE and I'm not back yet I have to go across the burning sand to reach safety. As it turned out I found a short area to that I could tolerate. LOOK AT MY POOR FEET.

We went back to our condo. Did you ever drive with the air on while wearing sandals?  Did your feet feel like they are frozen. I did today and it felt wonderful. I think if I was home and walked barefooted in snow the snow would melt.

Since it was early we went down to the ocean, you know to see whales. We didn't see any, but I did have a chance to write on my blog.  Well that's the way it goes and that's our day. We took our swim and hot tub to end our day. Just supper to go. Eating on the lanai we had hamburgers. As Clela said easy to cook and it taste great. With potato salad and salsa for out hamburgers we had a delightful  meal.

See ya

2016 Condo crew day

Today is a "Lying" good day
Just a play on words. You know March comes in like a Lyon and goes out like a Lamb. As you can see just another great day. We were supposed to go on a whale watch today. Even tho there is little wind and great sunshine, the waves are still very high, high 30 to 40 foot. The boat goes up and the boat goes down, up and down. You get the idea of those hug swells.

We are leaving the condo today so the cleaning crew can come in with their shovels and brooms, to scrape the floors. Just look how dirty the kitchen is.

Oh my, how can people live that way. So I guess we'll leave soon.  Well they came early.

This again, I say again because it's happen twice.

Those pants are tan and here's me.

Yes those pants are tan. "The  bobsie twins".  As you can see we didn't leave the resort we just went down to the ocean. Sometimes I think there is a magnetic pull. I was watching some outriggers who were going whale watching and the swells were so high you could lose track of the boat.
The outriggers are giving up because it's too choppy out there.
Just saw the bus (mother whale) teaching Chev Spark ( baby whale) how to tail slap. Just now we had a double breach, mom and baby. They are continuing to give us a show.  The mother is showing baby how to turn on the breach so they land on their backs. She is also showing baby how to make a pectoral flap. Great show.

Fast forward about three hours and hear we are back at the beach. We had a wonderful lunch at Dukes. It's a different world over there.
We park our car at a beach access and walk in. There have been some good planning there because once you turn the corner it gets very quite. All the resorts are far back and between the ocean there is a barrier of native plants. This stops erosion. The problem here is there is no stopping the waves and you have the walk way disappearing.

The water is turning brown because the edge is washing out to sea.  The DNR will not let the resorts do anything.  I would say by next year that beach walk will be gone.
We arrived at Dukes beach side and we asked to be seated outside.
We ordered salad thinking something light.
I had chicken and she had fish. Each of those bowls are two meal each.
Our drinks were great strawberry and mint quencher. Non alcoholic for the second time. I have to walk back to the car don't cha know. I would recommend eating here once a trip.
Here is that look towards the ocean.
The beach is beautiful here. Ya know I still believe they come in and remove all the rocks in the water. All the beaches where you have high end resorts, have no rocks, just pristine beautiful beaches. I could say the same thing at Wiamea like the Grand Wiamea resort as another example. Maybe the DNR takes a vacation when those resorts went up.  This is what we swim in.
That would be rocks all the way out. The DNR is there to protect the environment but sometimes they go too far.
Clela is having the best day ever. The women we met this morning found us this afternoon. She is fun to talk to. A former teacher herself. They talked about trips. Of course Clela had good advice on things to do and places to go.
We are off to the pool.
We like to go under the falls and sitting there. Wouldn't you know here comes this woman. There goes Clela and this women talking.  She was from Canada, had 5 grandkids and they range in age just like ours.  I think Clela had been deprived on not being able to talk to someone besides me. Great day for the gift of the gab.

We have leftovers of which I'm not going to show you because it doesn't look good. Leftovers from lunch. I ate some but did like the Mac salad.

That's our day, you got to like it.
See ya and you to Miss K

2016 Bits and pieces

Good morning everyone
Another great day in paradise. It's a little cool, we have a high surf today, perhaps reaching 40 foot surf on the north shore. No we're not going looking for that big wave.

Sure is beautiful here. The grounds people are busy cutting grass. I love the smell of fresh cut grass. Let me think my mower comes back April 15 and the grass cutting starts. I will see grass when I get home won't I?
The resort seems to be filling up. I suppose spring break is starting. The adults have the pool.
The kids not up yet. Oops the kids have found the pool.

Clela said she is at the point where we don't have to run around much. She would rather sit by the ocean and read her book and whale watch.
Well I think it's time to move. Opps now she is talking about going to the new beach. See it's just not me wanting to do something.
Farmers Market
Yes we are going to the market and no we didn't go the the beach. Come on we can change our minds.

We need some papaya, banana bread and a tomato.

Try it before you buy it.

This is were we get our cream cheese.
Later we went over to a small park across the street.
This is a good park for young kids. There is a place to play. They can have a picnic,
You'll have to zoom in to see the picnic table. If your kids like a little water there is a small area that is not deep.

I was thinking about going snorkeling on the other side of the coral. It also has another strip of coral before it gets deep.

Lunch
Are you sure you haven't seen this picture before?  Well if you look close you will notice the chips are getting smaller. I LOVE the bottom of the bag so I was in my glory.
We listen to more of Harry Bosch.  Ya know you don't sleep very much if the story is good. We didn't sleep much.
Later we went down to the beach where it was too windy. So we then we went back to the grassy area.
Sorry but there is a large grassy area there. We sat down on a couple chairs. I just couldn't get comfortable. I'm not going to write about it ask me when we get. I was real edgy. Thus we went for a walk over to the resort next door.  Along the way we saw more beach erosion. You know we had large waves last night.
Pretty soon there won't be a sidewalk.   We followed the beach to the other side of the resort and there was more earth just breaking off. Clela Google it and there is a lot going on because of El NiƱo.
We are now back at the condo and Clela is getting me drunk. Not really, well maybe, okay I am. Hey just one drink. What can I say.
Tonight Clela really out did herself for supper take a look at this.
Here you have teriyaki beef carrots, zucchini with rice. Wow that was good. Oh I can not tell a lie. We stopped at Honokowai Okazuya restaurant really a carry out place and made our order.
Well that's it folks.
See ya

2016 Weather

RWe both got up early up almost before the birds.

Breakfast was a good one
We had banana pancakes. After eating two I was set for the day.
Just a rainy day or sunny day or a dark, dank, dreary day, you know a 3D day. Come on give me some more d additives. This was going to be a beach day but I don't know now.

The wind is picking up making for a rough choppy sea. Funny thing we are see lots of whales. Oh didn't I tell you we are sitting in the glass enclosure by the the big pool ocean side. The wind was so great it kept blowing my hat off.
Scuba class
A scuba class is just starting.

The class is free and last about an hour.

After the class he makes the pitch to spend two hours with him in the ocean. We decided to go back to our chairs by the ocean and leave the shelter of the enclosure. This is what we saw.
We had less wind now and warmer. We started to see whales breaching some we could see with naked eye and some with binoculars. Now we got excited about all the breaches. Now we're counting five, six, and ten we can't believe our eyes. Now it's 15 and still they are breaching. We are going crazy. Then it's 20 then 25 and now it's 30. We thought that is amazing but they are still breaching. Maybe it's a whale contest. Now it's 35 it's starting to get scary. Finally at 38 it was over. Never, ever after all these years of whale watching did we ever see anything Ike that.
Lunch

As you can see we are eating inside. Just not a beach day. You can't beat a good sandwich and to add Maui chips awesome!!
Shopping
What do you do if the weather is bad. You go shopping. Where do you go, you go to Whalers Village. When we walked in it was raining. That okay because you can go from store to store. There are two stores we really like they are stores that have items made in Hawaii not China. We are always drawn to the ocean here what we saw.
People were debarking from the Hula Girl. We walked down to see what the beach looked like.
You are looking at black rock. Nice beach. The very first year we went to Hawaii we stayed at the Sheraton, at the black rock. Every evening a diver goes out on black rock and dives into the ocean. New beaches to go to this year and next.

We did some shopping for home. Then drove back to our condo. That it for today.  We had some quiche for supper.
See ya
