2016 A day at the beach

Day 6
A new song for Tom Peter ( he is the rock/country star of the Beaver Land hang outs)
I'm tired, old and cranky
I'm on the far side of those in their 40s
And my bones they squeak like never be for
I'm tired, old and cranky.

Sometimes I forget simple words and their spelling
I didn't forget in my 40s
I'm sitting here wondering who wrote this song
I'm tired, old and cranky.
Morning
This is a good sign for the day.  Clear

It sounds old and cliché, but you can not beat that first cup of coffee.  Maybe it's because you can small that aroma, the day is fresh, most of you have had a good night os sleeping.  And then..... you take that first sip along with that great aroma. What made it even better we could take that cup out to the lanai with a slight breeze blowing and the palm trees gentle sway. You you see my morning.
Breakfast out on the lanai
What a start of a wonderful day to be able to eat breakfast out side and have it warm.
Breakfast for a king. The waffle were from the other morning, just pop then in the toaster to warm. The eggs are so fresh just like the kind you get direct from the farmer.  You know with the deep yellow center.  They kind of remind me of those eggs I sometimes get from my brother Tom. You know Toms the Beaver Dam rock/ country rock star.
After breakfast we waited around for the cleaning crew.  Hey they come once a week to clean the condo and the best part it is free.  Some condos charge about $150 each time they come. They were here for an hour.  They worked hard and it looks great.
Beach day
We try to go to a different beach at least once or twice a week. We could stay here but it nice to get out.  We went over to the Subway and had two salads made. One would have done, we will remember that next time.   Today we went to cemetery beach. I know it has a name but we call it cemetery beach because the there is one next store. It was a perfect day great sun, low surf, clear skies. We loaded up with our food and $4 chair and headed for the shade.

After lunch we took a walk to look for sea glass. We could always find glass here but not today.  I'm going to show you what it looked like

Remember you can click on each one to zoom in or enlarge.

We stayed there until about 3 at to drive back to the condo.
Molokai
When we got back to the condo I just so happened to got out on the lanai I saw a clear view of Molokai.  I said Clela we have to go down and take some pics.  I said lets get swimming suits on and swim and take some pics. Why was this so important well you never get a clear view of the island.

The first time we brought the family here you couldn't see it.  On the last day we were
in the beach for the last time and Reagan turned around and said "hey there is an island over there". That something we will always remember.  So take a good look this island is shrouded in clouds. Yes after taking the pics, we did take our swim in the ocean side pool.
Drink of the day
Our drink of the day was Maui Splash, lots of ice and Sprite.
Supper
Italian Bucatini (when you say this use your fingers) it's thick spaghetti, sauce and sliced green olives.  Oh my papa, this is good.
That is our day
See ya

2016 A gold necklace

Day 5

Today started out like any other day, wind blowing, raining off and on. At least we don't have 50 mph wind like you will have tomorrow. Bend there done that.  We have rainbows. Had a little wind damage last night.

Breakfast

We got up late today and just sat around enjoying our coffee. Breakfast was great, yogurt and granola, Papaya. We got dressed and went down to go for a walk and then right in the lobby was Thursday. Oh you didn't know?

Today is craft fair day.  Yes that's right every Thursday its craft fair day. Clela can't pass up a craft fair.  You know it's like the state fair you can close you eyes and still visualize where everything is. Yup, you have the hat lady on the right and the hat guy on the left.  Oh, there is the photographer in the front lobby and the woodcarver as you leave.  Got that? Now you know my Thursday. After perusing the fair we went out to whale watch. It's hard to see whales when it's so choppy.  No luck. This is the first year we have trouble seeing whales.
Pool time
The weather has been rotten with high winds, rain and low temps we haven't had a chance to use the new pool. Today we made it finally.

It took a little Coaxing because the water was cold but we did it. The pool is not very deep only 4' in most places. You can go under a bridge and sit behind a water falls, just like the one in Kauai. Then at night the pool is lite up and colored spray of water.

 Sail boarding
After swimming we went down to the ocean to try again to see whales.  It was so windy we decided to go in the glass enclosed area and watch for whales. I had the binoculars focused on Molokai and saw 4 people wind sailing along the coast. Even with the binoculars they were 1/4" high.  The only reason I found them I saw by something shining Iike diamonds by eye sight.  After about a half hour they turned toward our island. They were racing fast. I and then in about ten minutes they were here. They were coming ashore right in front us us. That takes Unbelievable strength, balance and endurance to make that run. That is a long, long distance. The second one ashore was a young girl!  Girl power. I was so in shock, not that a girl did this but that they all made it. I forgot to take pictures.

Whalers Village
We desired to do some shopping at the Whaler and eat supper. There is a big remodeling going on there, stores are closing, there is construction going on everywhere.

We bought two more cups for our collection.
It's hard to tell but the cups are light blue. Our other ones are green.
Gold necklace
Next we went shopping for a gold necklace.  We went in and I found four necklaces to try on.  I tried one on. I bought it NOT.  The necklace had a price tag of only $1000. The other three ranged up to $5000 smakers.  It looked ridiculous on me. We had a good laugh and that was the end of my golden necklace.
The Hula Girl
A year ago we ate at this restaurant. How did I remember, Facebook is like big brother. We ordered drinks, lava flows.
Very good drinks but I think they forgot the liquor. I ordered a fish toco and Clela ordered Chineese chicken salad.

We ate in a hurry because we were cold. Food was better last year.  Well that was our day.
See ya.

2016 Cheeseburger in paradise

Day 4
Yesterday I was not kidding when I said we had winds of 35 mph and gust up to 50 mph.  Today the wind is still blowing and raining off and on.

Now the picture doesn't show you the type of day.
Breakfast

I've got my paper.

I've got a great waffle, coffee and juice.  Hey what more do you want and now the clouds are breaking up.
Whale watching
Since we plan on going to Lahaina this morning, we just went down to the ocean to whale watch. The ocean is so choppy it was hard to see anything.  I think we sat there for an hour and saw very little activity.
Lahaina
About 11 we went to Lahaina. We have this special place to park. It's a small lot the lets you park all day for $4.  There are places you pay $4 an hour.  What is special about the lot is how you pay. Each stall is numbered just like any other.  You go over to this box that has small slots. You fold up each dollar and push it into you slot.

If your having problems, you can use a special key to push it dollar in.  It's it. You have no credit card or the problem of having the dollar that is too-wrinkled and it keeps coming out.  Just keep it simple.
We plan on only staying two, three hours a one time.
Cheeseburger in paradise
If you go to Lahaina you must go eat at cheeseburger in paradise.

Okay we a not arm wrestling. Clela wanted to hold hands. Awe. You know we're old and our arms don't always bend. Do you believe that? Strange pic.
Gold necklace
I've got these real nice t-shirts and I think a nice gold necklace would look good.  Now if you know me I don't do well in jewelry stores and me with a gold necklace, enough said.  We looked and looked and could not find a "mans" necklace in Lahaina.
Wind and rain
This island like all the Hawaiian islands are all the same.  If it is raining in one place just get in your car and go a couple miles away. Had a good example of this today. It was raining and the wind was blowing at our resort. When we got to Lahaina the sun was shining, the wind had calmed down, the sea was calmed. Driving back the our resort it started to rain again.
Whale watching
After a short rest we went down to the ocean again. I think we found our whale watching place.

It has shade, we are near the ocean. It just a flew steps off the walk which is good for Clela. We did see a breach and several tail slaps. On our way back to our condo we noticed the stage was setup for "The hula show".

The senior woman is still there.
Well that it for the day.
See ya

2016 One, two, three

Your are my partner

My lover

And friend

And where ever I go I know you will be there. One two three, one, two three. You can dance to this song. One, two three.
Your are my partner, my lover and friend.  Sing that Tom Rueter just like Willie would. Okay I did change the words.

Day three
You can't beat that first cup of coffee on the the lanai. Why does is taste so good?  A beautiful day, warm, the birds singing and a great day, the sun is almost out.

Sorry, but it does get cold here and the sun doesn't always shine.
Breakfast
We have been waiting for a good papaya. Talk about that first sip of coffee in the morning, well we took a spoon full and clicked our spoons together like a toast and then ate that smooth delightful, melt in your mouth full. Hmmmm. That was good.
Ya, that's right me and Jimmy Dean with fried rice.  A great start of the day.
Taking a walk
We decided to go for a walk around the resort.  It was clear and the sun was shining.  By the time we walked out it was raining.

That's right sun was shining ocean side and raining on the mountain side of the resort. Just as we walked through the lobby there was a rainbow.  Part of our walk included walking through the resort next store. We discovered something new.

A pink water falls to match their pink lounge chairs. How about that.  We have a new pool that spurts colored water.
We went back down to the ocean to look for whales.  Since there is no beach we had to comprise on a place to sit. We found two lounge chairs. This is perhaps good for Clela, she hates sand anyway. We never did see any whales but we did have a long talk with two couples form Fon Du Lac. Small world.
Lahaina
After lunch you notice no pics here just sandwich, we went to Lahaina to buy some chairs.  No chairs in the condo.  So we went where no Rueter goes.

Yes, Tonto, that is "THE SALVATION ARMY". We found two chairs for under $10 smakers.

Now we have some beach chairs. Three weeks from now we'll take them back. This would be class 101 Econ taught by professor Glen Wright.
The drink of the day

The drink of the day was a very good Pina Colada made by chubby gut me.  Oh by the way I think I put to much Rum in it.  After finishing my drink I preferred to set.  You notice I have my swimming suit on, well we never did make it down to the pool. We had winds blowing at 35 mph, with gust up to 50 mph don't cha know.
See ya.

2016 Things never stay the same

Nothing stays the same.
Our second day was a day of sleep, rest and running errands. Our very first stop was breakfast at CJs.
Best place for breakfast.
Mac nuts, bananas, wipe cream and coconut syrup and of course pancakes. Yum.
Clela had fried rice.
After breakfast we went to Safeway for food.  You know maybe a little wine, may some bear.  Okay that's not all we got.
Shopping
We then went to another grocery store for butter and suntan lotion.  Alright maybe we were a little tired. Just one more stop at a grocery store for some cream cheese, tomatoes and some papaya.  This grocery store is where we go to the farmers market.  They call it a farmers market for all us haoles that think they are getting a good deal but in reality you can also buy in the store. Well that is half true.  It is a natural food market. Now I mean now we were tired. We came back and had lunch, nothing special.
Can you see my hippie dippie tomato.  Natural organic tomato don't sha know.
Resort
After all that we took a nap.  Hey I'm old. There have been some changes to the resort we love so dearly. The first change was the small pool. Well here is the view from our condo.
I think it is a good change. Grand kids you would had never come out of it.

Now this is what it looks like at night.

That is a waterfalls that you can set behind. I have a video but my IPad won't allow videos. Anyway if you did zoom in on some pictures you would see spirting water. Well at night the spirting water has colored light much like lasers. Really cool to see.
The biggest change took place by Mother Nature. There is no beach.
That is the tree we use to set under.
This tree will die soon because of exposed roots.  All the hours we spent down there. All the whale watching we did.  This was always part of our day. It was always a challenge to find chairs. All gone.  It is sad.  Nothing stays the same, some for the better and some for the worst.
See ya

2016 Take a trip with me

Thank you  for coming back with us  for another year I Maui.
I thought I give you a snap shot of your day. Have you ever been on a trip with a mother who was out of control?  We knew we were in trouble when standing in line to drop off our checked luggage. I have never seen a women, a mother with such a foul mouth. See was loud, didn't care where she was and what she was saying. She belittle her children to the point where they were crying.  "Don't sit on that suitcase, set on the floor". "Get out of here". Okay that doesn't sound bad. She had a very short temper. She was fighting with the people she was traveling with. I thought well that's the last time I see her. We found our gate and sat down, glad to get rid of her when low and be hold here she comes to our gate. And on top of that she sits right behind us.  Holy cow she is going to Atlanta. Well thank god she went to the back of the plane.
Atlanta
arrived in Atlanta on time where we had a 3 hour lay over. Sounds like a lot of time doesn't it?  I think it worked out well for us. Southern charm in a big airport.  People stood in long line to board planes. Can you believe it?  Well not all gates. Sam would have liked it because we had " Sky priority for all our flights. We ate lunch/ breakfast and had time to spare. Before boarding Delta brought out candy and flowers, as a back drop and took pictures. When they were finished you could take some candy. Great idea. Okay your mother and I didn't partake, we just watched. I took a picture of this with my phone. Now I have to figure out how to get it to my iPad.
Here it is, my pic.  Thanks to Alyssa my tech support Guru who gives me apple support.  Thanks again Alyssa.
LA
Flying to Los Angeles was like  driving on a road that was a washboard, not big bumps, just enough to rattle you. The trip was four and a half hours, I think.  It was after all a long, long day. We ate supper here about 3:30. I remember Chris and Kathy wanted to see our food. So take a look.
That's my meal. A Ramen  noodles with chicken. A cooled salad. Real good. Your mother said she wants to order this when we fly home.
That's shrimp and rice.  Oh if I could only eat shrimp.
Nightmare final leg
Everything went well, plane was on time, but you all know how the seat are getting smaller, or maybe I'm getting larger, well now it seating was 3,3 with me in the middle. Oh, did I tell you they changed our  seats and we didn't know this until we boarded. Why you say, I don't know but we think our original seats were door seats and we in there minds think we're to OLD. Any way, the flight was ok but when you figure we have been up over 18 hours, a flight of over 5 hours was to much. Clamped in the middle for me and a window seat for your mother was not the best.  Never again will we make this trip in one day. We arrived in Maui around 10 in the evening, then 11 at the resort. By the time we got to bed we were up for 26 hours. That was our first day.
See ya.
