Day 22 A Boring Day?
This is what it looks like if I take a picture at 6:45 in the morning. We have to wait until the sun gets over the mountains before it shines on the ocean. Today was a normal day of getting up shaving showering dressing and having that first special cup of coffee on the Lanai. I have been stretching for 10 minutes yoga style. My back feels better. Part of our morning routine has always been to watch the Today show.
Okay, okay I said no more papaya. I gave it a try. It's only a fourth and not a half. You see Jimmy is back. We are eating inside because it is raining. Can't get my computer wet. Yes that is the Milwaukee Journal in the back ground, trying times in Wisconsin. The Packers are making some changes.
After breakfast we for the third day we went down to the ocean to whale watch.
Our first rainbow. There is a boat out there. I was hopping to take the picture with the boat under the rainbow. We had the beach pretty much to our self because it was raining a little.
My feet and Clela's feet. She tends to cover up her feet in the sun and cover up her body in the rain. No change for me whats alittle rain. We stayed out there for maybe two hours.
You know they say never take a small boat out into the ocean. I wish I had a picture of these two fishermen. They had a skiff, you know the type of boat you duck hunting in. Yes people a flat bottom boat with a small motor. I'm sitting on the beach in a tee shirt and shorts. They had coats on and were drinking beers. Hey the waves were so high there was a surfer out there. No problem. Hey dude!
We went up for lunch and story time. I have to tell you going back to the beach was not an option for me, I was bored. Clela said she knew this morning I had cabin fever. We had lots of places to go and believe it or not, time is running out. So we did what we like to do the best, we went shopping in Lahina. Nothing like walking the streets of Lahina. Our good parking place was full so we went down to the harbor side of town. We went from shop to shop, just looking. Clela called it retail therapy. We stopped and got some gelato and sat and ate.
Reagan said we should work on our selfies, so Reagan are we getting better?
Not bad huh.
Hey I got a great picture looking out into the bay. See what you think.
Our shopping over we headed back to our condo. Oh you ask what did we buy, we bought nothing, but it was a great therapeutic day. On the way back we stopped at C.J.'s and ordered take out.
Clela ordered a cob salad, and I Mango barbecue ribs.
Great wine, Maui splash and great food.
The sun was sitting on a non boring day. Oh sorry no sun.
See ya!

2015 Day 21 Hot and Cold
Day 21 Hot and Cold
It's breakfast on the Lani. Work is continuing next door.
Their is no papaya on my plate.
As I was reading the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel I notice something about my beautiful coffee cup. The only way I can enjoy the beauty is to drink with my right hand.
Really! That is not fair. They say one of the problems with the elderly is that they can't adapted to change. How many times have you heard this? Well I got news for all you righties. Left handed people have been adapting all their lives, so we (lefties) adapted better as we age.
We got an early start to whale watching today. We watched a long boarder paddling.
I know he is hard to see. You do know you can click on the picture to make it larger. A diving class was just entering the water.
After two hours of sitting by the ocean, we went back to our condo. Time to decide what to do. Clela said lets get dressed up and go out and have lunch at Dukes. Going out to our car it started to rain, yes rain. You remember we were going to Dukes on Valentines Day and we canceled because of rain. After a short walk next door we arrived in the rain.
We ordered Dukes Lemonade to start.
I say who is that old man in his Tommy Bahama shirt.
I ordered a Mac Nut encrusted fish sandwich.
Hey, my dish matched my shirt. Clela ordered a fish taco.
Matchy, matchy. You do know after living together you tend to dress similar. I just don't understand why she won't get matching outfits from Hilo Hattie. The food was great and we did make it to Dukes after all.
We got back to our condo and after listing to our story, we went down to the grass area, in the shade to read and rest. The wind was blowing and it was cold. We sat there and it was cold, I had goose bumps. Sorry I do realize this is not cold. If you want cold come to Wisconsin. Okay cold by Maui standards. We got up and found two lounge chairs in the sun by the ocean. You could feel the warmth on you body. I mean hot, hot, smok'in hot. We sat there with my legs burning, I mean hot. Okay off we went to the small pool. We did our swimming and got out with a cold breeze blowing. We dried off on the run and went up to our condo.
For supper we tried something new. Some of us oldies do try something new. We grilled our hamburgers out side and had cheese burgers.
This was our sunset.
See ya!

2015 Day 20 Papaya
Day 20 Papaya
Monday was a very refreshing day as all days since Valentines Day.
Always a good start to the day, good coffee and a great breakfast. I have been under the weather the last couple of days. Did you notice every morning I had a papaya for fruit.
Did you know you can get very sick from eating too much papaya. I would start feeling ill around noon and by supper I didn't want to eat. I thought I was coming down with something. I thought it was the cheese I had in my sandwich. Clela thought it was some of my medication. Papaya has lots of fiber. Now that can be good if you need some fiber and bad if you are getting to much. Well folks, I don't think you will be seeing papaya too much on my plate in the morning.
Monday, it must be the farmers market. Your right! We just went for bananas. The humanity was high, thus we had a slow walk both ways. After arriving back at our resort we decided to go sea glass hunting.
So after lunch and our story, we packed up and off we went. Didn't I tell you after lunch we listen to a story. I can't say on tape, we have done that, on CD, no but we have done that, but on a IPod. We're such a techie family.
I can't wait until I get home so I can try some different techniques on these pictures. Anyway we found some shells, small ones but shells. Katie was hoping we would find some. This is a first for us.
There is a woman who comes to this beach with her dog. She wears a blue cover up and a hat. She is always talking on her phone. As she walks to the water she finds a stick so she can play fetch with her dog. This dog goes crazy with anticipation. The dogs loves the water and flies in to fetch the stick. You know I think I remember her last year. After about a half hour of playing fetch, she walks back to her car still talking on her phone. Sometimes the dog hasn't had its fill of fetch and he stays on the beach. Just about the time she gets to her car he starts barking at the waters edge. He won't move until she comes back still talking on the phone and they start the process all over again. Here is a small sample of their play.
That's our day, I hope I'm feeling better tomorrow. So I'll say see ya!

2015 Days 18 The Quest
Day 18 The Quest
For eighteen days we have been in a quest to find a koa dish. This is the day. We woke up to a beautiful day.
There was no wind. After breakfast we headed to the Maui University. Yes we were here two weeks ago. Well we're back. It cost .50 cents to get into The Maui Swap meet. What is a swap meet? To me this means people bring things to swap with each other. No, that didn't happen. In early days in Maui you had people that lived off the sea and people who farmed. They had their form of a swap meet when they brought their goods to a rock fence to make a swap. Was it a art and craft meet? Yes. Okay that's enough of that.
We wondered the grounds for our prize only to find NO koa dish. Yes no koa dish. It took us almost an hour to get here. No Koa Dish. Ha Ha we can adapt. I'm not surprise because two weeks ago we did look at ceramic dishes. Well today we liked a beautiful dish for $80. You never buy the first thing so we marched on. In the last low in the second to last booth Clela found The Dish, for $20.
Our quest is over! The artist is from Madison Wisconsin. What?
A perfect day and my perfect dish. Yes I was talking about Clela, what did you think?
See ya later!

2015 Day 17 Dragons
Day 17 Dragons
Today was a typical day for us, we still get up at 6:30, we still have our coffee on the Lanai. We went down to ocean, Clela reading a book and me well I'm looking for whales. We met a couple from Michigan. Nice couple, she a teacher (retired) and he president of a company. Clela gave her all the tips to finding a place in Maui at a reasonable price.
Our plan for the day was to get a sub and take a picnic to Iao park. What can I say we have seen everything so we enjoy going back to the same places.
We found a table and set out our food, when along comes a cat, a fat cat. I don't like cats and they don't like me. The cat and I have a stare down. He looks a Clela and goes over by her. I stand up and give it my evil eye.
I mean look at me wouldn't you run? The cat moved closer to Clela.
You see this cat has not missed many meals. He walks around the table and looks at Clela, She has this big smile on her face he won't look at me because I give him the evil eye.
He finally leaves. As Clela finishes her food I get up to take some pictures.
So beautiful.
It's raining, it's not raining. The sun comes out, the clouds roll in. Well let's give the park a try, it's only $5 dollars. There is nobody to collect our money. No park attendance there. The area where they showed how people lived in the past was in disarray. We took a slow walk down to the stream and I took some pictures along the way.
This picture almost looks 3D with the trees in the foreground.
I like how the sun shines on the wall next the needle.
Nice color.
Not much water flowing.
Today is the start of Chinese New Year. This year the dragons came to our resort.
When we were at Hula Girl restaurant the dragons were there also.
They were moving around to the beat of the drums.
Well that's it see Ya!

2015 Day 16 Why?
Day 16 Why?
Today we awoke to a partly cloudy day. The weather has been up and down, that is cool in the mornings with lots of Vog. No that's not a typo, there is a weather condition called Vog. Vog is a combination of smog and fog you know the gases and particles emitted from an erupting volcano. That's why there are days when we can't see the islands nearest ours.
With the right wind it allows use to see more
We did our usual things in the morning, our coffee, a walk and breakfast. Yes they are still working next door. You know you might say why are they moving just one piece at a time. I took a look through the fence and that is a 6" I-beam. It must take a long time to get everything off the roof.
Yes you can get close to them without and they don't fly away.
For lunch we went to Lahaina. Our destination was?
We love those cheeseburgers. Cheeseburgers, cheeseburgers Pepsi, Pepsi no Coke. Sorry Baluchi only Coke served here. After eating we did some window shopping. Still looking for that koa dish. Before we came home we stopped to have a shaved ice. Oh my I just called our condo home. I guess I have settled in.
I think we waited in line at least a half hour.
This store was across the street. A larger store and more recognition brings more people.
I think after two weeks I can finally say I can set and do nothing. That was hard for me, I have always been a goal orientated person. I always finish everything I start. To set and do nothing has never been in my vocabulary. I'm also someone who can multi tasked. Why set when you can do something. Now I can set by the ocean and just watch the waves come in, just listen to the wave lapping up on shore. I can set there and not feel guilty. There is an inner peace to that.
Did you ever wonder why people can stand for an half hour watching the sunset. Sunsets are beautiful, breath taking. People raise their drinks to toast the end of the day. Why don't we pause in our day to watch the sunset at home? Why is vacations the only time you enjoy a sunset?
That is my Whys for the day. See ya!
