Every Day Is A beautiful Day

We can't believe it but everyday has been perfect compared to last year.

Breakfast

We ate outside this morning.  You know that makes it six days in a roll.  Clela made French toast this morning.

That was real good with the slices of banana on top with real 100% maple syrup.  Like the placemats.

Just take a look at this this pic.

Last weekend you couldn't find a chair to set on.  Clela and I went swimming just a little bit.  Well okay, we both froze in the cold water. You couldn't swim with the pool full of people.  Now look at the pool today.  There are two couples with kids down there. What a change.

We ate lunch on lanai .

We had the leftover pulled pork from last night.  Got to love Maui chips.  We also had pork and beans.  Oh that black thing on my plate was an Oreo.

After our story, Clela tried to get some ice from the refrigerator  and no ice came out. She opened the freezer and ice flew all over. We cleaned up the ice and Clela tried again.  Nothing seam to work. She turned on the water in the bath room and hollered we don't have water.  She called the front desk and was told there was a problem and the water would be turned off for short time.

We went down to the beach and headed for our favorite tree, when we ran into a family from Cedarburg.  We met them last year.  He is a big kidder who doesn't know when to stop.   We put our chairs down to do our whale watching.  It's funny because just about the time you think nothing will happen.  There was a whale watching boat that slowed down because they were right next or close to a whale, when all of a sudden this huge whale makes a full breach right next to the boat. The whale was so close that I'm sure they were all wet. I hope they got some good pics.  Just then the whale made a full breach on the other side of the boat. I bet they will never forget that. Thanks to my binoculars I saw it all.  Here are some pics I took.

That was a good view some valleys on Molokai.

This is a familiar view.

It was three and that is drink time so we headed back to our condo.

Okay I did eat a lot of snacks first.  Got the ice maker to work for our drink.  The problem was frozen mass of ice in the shoot where the ice slides down.

For dinner (or supper as said in the mid west) we had salads from the Subway store across the street.

Can't beat that.  Well that's out day see ya.

Farmer's Market

Monday was a day like most other days.  We got up, made our coffee and went out on the lanai to start our day.  It is somewhat dark when we get out there. the sun is just starting to light the sky.

before you know it the sun comes up over the mountain and the day starts with all those birds start flying off.  I'll try to show arriving at about 6:30 each night and leaving about 6:15 in the morning.

Farmers Market

After breakfast our goal was getting more fruit. We decided to also stop at the BAD ASS Coffee Shop for a cold coffee latte, then go to the market for fruit and then go over to the small park across the street.

We jumped in to our car (no, I can't see us doing that) and off we went.  We had a hard time getting out on the street. We drove up to the street with a ton of traffic. What is going on?  We got the last handicap parking spot and proceeding to walk to the Farmers Market store.  If I didn't say it before there in no outside market but there is always fresh fruit inside.  As we walked past the Bad Ass store we could see the store was not open.  I mean what the hay. Oh well no latte.  We proceeded to the store and got our fruit.  We got a very large papaya.  Clela always his a great eye and feel for a papaya when it is ready to eat.  We also got some honey bananas, don't let the name fool ya, they look and taste like any other banana.  We needed something to drink so we walked around the store and we found some small bottle of a yogurt to drink.

Honokowai Beach Park

We put the food in the car, got our chairs out and went over to the park.  The park was full of young families.  We found a place near the water and set up our chairs and sat down.  We finally figured out there was no school, Presidents Day.  I would have liked to show you kids playing in the sand and in the water. I always consider this as a no, no. people are very protected of their kids and I can't blame them. We opened up our drink and to our surprise it was terrible. We both looked at each other and Clela said it for the both of us it was bad, like sour milk, only with a taste of strawberry. Hey we paid three bucks each so we drank it down. After about two hours we drove back to our condo.

Rescue

I the afternoon sitting on our lanai doing a little whale watching I saw two people on long boards. Some people are crazy to do that but I have seen that may times.  I also saw a whale watching boat heading out.  Some whales was giving a real show, mine was through my binoculars. They went right next to the two on long boards. The boat stopped and talked the the long boarders for at least five minutes before circling around to the front of the boat.  I said to Clela I think they are trying to convince them to get on the boat.  The currents are very high in some places.  The boat then turn around to the back and the two long boarders got on.  I think I just saw a rescue.  Anyway off went the boat looking for whales.

The Birds (da birds da birds ad birds is the word)

Hey I said earlier about the birds arriving around six well bear with me my pics are not too close.

If you look at the top edge of the resort you will see birds sitting there.  More and more birds keep arriving until all of a sudden the birds in groups of two start diving straight down and landing in the trees in the center. Lots of palm trees here and a beautiful place to walk through in the day time but not at night. As more birds land they fly around from tree to tree and the noise is to a high pitch.  This noise goes on for about 45 minutes and all of a sudden it stops.  This happens every day.  I say if you must walk during this time where a hat or don't walk under a tree.

Well the was our day see ya.

Happy Valentines Day

Looked outside this morning to see a sun rise that looked pink really.  Take a look.

Well now that I looked at it that is a stretch.  The water does have a little pink, right?

Now that the sun is just coming over the mountain this is what we see.  I'm going to try to add a video. Oh man I'm a failure.  Na, it's my software.  Every year I try to add video.  This year all my is HD.  We got up, ate breakfast, and went to the grocery store across the street.  Anyway one of the things I saw was fish.  I do like fish that don't taste like fish.

Really people could you eat that fish.  Like every time you took a bit that eye would be staring at you.  The fish would say "why are you eating me, why, why. Do you eat the eye, the mouth? Oh I think I'm getting sick. I got to take a break now.

Feeling better now it's lunch time you know. Don't you know I eat at noon and six.  I mean doesn't everyone? For lunch we ate outside on a beautiful day.

What is this?  Clela I don't think you should eat this.  Looks moldy.  Well It really okay to eat.  It's a a spam musubi.

This is no bonsai food here. Just your old sandwich.  I probably had milk also, ya good down to earth lunch.

After lunch and our story and a nap.  Yup a nap. We did go down to the ocean to whale watching for a couple hours.

Now it's time to dress up and go out to eat at the restraint in our resort.  A picture first.

Good picture of Clela.  Off we went to the restaurant. It's just a short walk.  There is limited seating so it was first come first serve.  Since this was a special occasion we ordered a drink.

I had a Mojito and Clela had glass of Zinfandel wine. Next ordered an appetizer of Coconut Shrimp.

Wow that really looked good, but that is something I can't eat Shrimp because I an allergic to shrimp.  We both ordered fish tacos.  I know we always order fish tacos.

We have discovered these tacos are now number two on our list.  The first being The Fish Market.

The sun was setting in the west and that is the end of our day.

See ya.

A Day Of Reckoning

Looking back on Saturday I can't remember very much.  We had a cloudy day with light rain.

It was a day of doing some wash. Of course the day of the vote to convict or acquit the former President Donald Trump. Remember I said I couldn't think of what we did? Well this is it.  I do remember the vote. I was not all the surprise of the acquittal. I had had hope that some in the GOP would standup for our democracy but I guess that was to much to ask for.  Herd mentality.  I'm glad it's over, well maybe not.  That was not the GOP I remember.  Life goes on. No more starting each day be reading CNN. I'm getting better.  I haven't read the Journal.  But before Trump my day starts with the Today show, that will never change.

That's all (I remember) see ya.

A DAY OF HOPE

Today was our first breakfast on the lanai.  Such a great feeling to be able to eat outside.  Our weather is very different than in the past two years. Instead of fifty miles per hour wind and rain, we have blue skies with a gentle breeze blowing. The sky is as blue as the ocean with areas close to the color aqua.

Went shopping yesterday. We found a box of frozen crepes as large as your plate. Clela added some berries and I add some maple syrup. Oh were they good.

We also found some papaya ready to eat.

This was melt in your mouth good.  And with your first cup of coffee, it's always the best.

The morning flew by with my watching the hearing of President Trumps second  Impeachment. I said I had hope .  Hope for all the officers who were killed  protecting our Senators with hope they didn't die in vane.  I had hope for democracy.  Hope for our Senators to vote for our country.

Soon it was lunch It was hard to tear away from the TV but I did.

Okay, I tried to rotate this pic but it had a mind of it's own.  You can turn your head back now.  You can see we don't eat much.

Before you can turn around it was night.

That was our day. See ya

Shop For Necessaries

In the past we always did the same thing.  We would eat at CJ's. We had to change that to Java Jazz.  Unfortunately CJ's was one of the casualties of the pandemic.  Java Jazz had lots of people and my level of worry went up.  Tables were spread apart.

As you can see we kept our mask on until we ate.  Our food was great and the service was fast considering our waiter was the the only waiter in the place.  I had pancakes with apple cinnamon sauce.  Clela had a veggie omelette.

With Clela's Safeway card in hand off went went to shop for groceries.  Believe it or not Clela started her list last year.  Last year when shopping here there were empty shelves.  Not this year.  Going to check out is were the worry in me started but soon my worrying faded away.  We put the groceries in the trunk and I backed out and bumped into a large truck that was parked in a groceries pick up zone.  I went forward and backed up a second time and hit the truck again. Okay once is ok but two times hitting the same truck.  Well we pulled into a parking place and got out to check for damage and found none.  Wooo I'm not going to hide it, it happen.  I wish the driver was in his truck.  Maybe he will pick a different spot.

Back at the resort it took me four trips to bring the groceries up.  The rest of the day we spent at the resort. This is what we saw.  Okay maybe I watched the trial most of the day.

Every day except yesterday was like this.  Not like last year that is for sure.

That was our day, see ya.

 A Day Of Travel

Wednesday February 10th

Any time you travel in the winter there is always a chance of you getting caught in bad weather.  We lucked out we were in between that gave us a beautiful day.

Our Go Rite driver was there on time. We had our bags checked in  with no problems.  You know how I love technology so I was (I thought) very excited to see this in action.  the TSA officer does not check your ID and your first boarding all this was by done by sliding your ID in a slot and your itinerary and ID is verified comes up.  This speeds up the TSA lines. Well the change was not in Milwaukee.  Clela in a wheelchair was wand twenty thousand times.  Okay she does have that look.  They wand all the way down to her butt crack several times.  They always check her extra most times when going through TSA.

Our flight to Minneapolis was short and sweet.  Now most of the construction is over.  Anytime we land here there is a walk from St. Paul to Minneapolis.  When we were there the last time there was this powered cart to take us to our gate.  They would spot us with our tongues hanging out. Now if you ever have to walk along beside these people you better have your running shoes on and in shape.  Now I will never show I was on my last leg and I was.  I gave him a tip on my wobbly legs.  Now please don't get me wrong, this group are the nicest people you ever want to meet.

Off we went to Seattle we went.  After we were flying for they came around with snacks.  I this plastic bag was a bottle of water, a bag of cookies and a bag of nuts. This is was appropriate when living through pandemic.

Then our meal came out.

Now about this time I was real hungry.  Now here you have  a bag of chips, and hummus.    I would have liked cheese but there was hummus. Hummus, hummus, hummus.   I had to use hummus.  Do you remember what your child first BM. That's hummus?  Well I ate everything, every chip and yes hummus. It is amazing what you will do if your hungry. I hope I never eat hummus again.

In Seattle we had a short walk to our gate, thus we had time to eat.  There was McDonald's. We went over to several stations to order our and pay by credit card.  Our meal came up very fast, this was a new experience for us.

Next stop Maui.  Our plane was a sleeping beds or recliners.

Clela thinks they are coffins.  The seat goes up and down to a flat position.

In the down position and with a pillow and blanket you can sleep.

We had a plane like this a couple years when we flew from Maui to Atlanta.
After taking off from Seattle we are on our last leg of about thirteen hours of flying.  They started to bring out sacks.  Yup the same snacks as our last flight.  I think about a half hour later out came our meal.

Upon arriving in Maui we had to go though Hawaii travel safely to check if we had all our credentials in order. We need a negative COVID test within 72 hours of our last flight, we had to fill out a questionnaire and to get QR code that told them we jumped through all there hoops. All of this caused us great worry. When we first looked into test we could only go to a preferred site for the test and there we only one the Milwaukee area.  You needed a test appointment three days form the time you  left Seattle. as we got closer to making a appointment we found out that our local Walgreens gave the test. The results came from the a lab,  Mine results came in three hours and Clela never got her results. Lucky we had some time to do some research we found a web site link to tell the labs results never came back.  We also called Walgreens Pharmacy and he said he had the results were negative and he would give us copy.
Still worrying we got a through fast with no problems.  Off we went to the car rental and off to the condo,  That was our day so see you later.
