2015 Day 12 Update

Day 12 Update

Yesterday I stopped blogging early.  We had planned to go next door for supper.  We went online before we came here and made reservations for Dukes.  We ate there on your first trip to Oahu.  That is were all the kids ran into the ocean for the first time.  The day started out just windy.   We decided to go down stairs and watch the wind blowing for a storm was brewing.  The wind was picking up.  Benches were flipping over. a awning flew off.  A woman from the beauty shop came out and started to pick up poles that supported the awning.

I went over and put a potted plant on top so it wouldn't become a projectile. Here is what the wind looked like.  A woman said the storm looks like a hurricane.  She said she never saw wind like this.

Finally some maintenance workers took it away.  Look at the tall palm trees in the background and you will the wind blowing in a different direction.  The buildings were causing a swirl.

Clela and I ventured out to see if some crazies were still in the hot tub.  No one was there, but there was white caps on the small swimming pool.

Lets go down to the ocean I said.  Okay maybe we are the crazies.  I looked at the large pool and yes there was some people swimming in the pool.  The ocean was churning over with a fine spray at the top of the waves.

Just to show you how people think, here was a guy coming from the pool bar with his hands full of drinks.  I opened the gate for him.  He walked backwards to protect his drinks.  We said that enough lets go up to our condo and watch from up there.  About this time the rain started, not Hawaiian soft, fine rain, but pouring rain you know the type that goes horizontal.  About this time they closed the pool.  The maintenance staff started stacking chairs.

A large pool of water was forming in the grass area, with large streams of water poring in.

Palm branches were falling off trees.  The wind was never strong enough to bend the trees over, but they were swing.

About this time our smoke alarm went off blaring a constant screech.  When this happens you panic.  Clela goes over to the door to see if anyone else's alarm is blaring, but it is only ours.  With my very sensitive nose I ran around the condo sniffing in each room, nothing.  Why is it blaring.  It was not a short blast, it was constant.  I tried to take off the cover with no success.  Finally Clela called the front desk and they said a maintenance man would check it out.  No one came.  This alarm was hard wired into the resort.  You would think someone would  see this in the maintenance room, no one came.

By this time the alarm had stopped and we came to our senses and thought no one would come because even tho we are in the resort this place was private.  The condo could burn down and no one would come.  We found our private number to call.  I called and got an answer.  I told her what happen and that we called the front desk.  She said that was the wrong thing to do.  Okay, we did panic a little, well a lot.  She said we don't like to call maintenance because there is an extra cost but if we really wanted someone to come them, she would.  I said  make  the  call.

We thought with the monsoon blowing out side and the fire alarm problem we had better cancel our reservation for Dukes.  Man, we really wanted to go.  But we made the call.  About an hour later a private home maintenance guy shows up.  I tell him the smoke alarm kept going off. I thought the alarm  was hard wired into the resort.  He says no, its just the battery that went dead.  No, what about the scorch marks on the wall.  This wall was just painted.

He open it up with some difficulty and low and be hold it was hard wired.  On the cover it said turn off the power before opening.  He looks at the back, studying it for some time and says there is no battery.  Ya. it's old.  He said he would have to find out who carries this type.  Okay I won't see him again.
He leaves and we think here we are no place to go now.  By this time the rain has stoped, so we decided to go to Lahina and try to find a place to eat.  We drove past the Hard Rock Cafe and saw no one in line.  5:30 was a good time for us.  We had great drinks and food.

Clela had the beer and I had a Strawberry Mojito.  You know if your coming to Maui go to the Hard Rock Cafe, food is great and reasonably priced.

When we came out the sun made its final showing for the day.  We saw a young couple across the street taking a sefie so Clela said why not us.

Well you know forks I have trouble doing this.  I'm all ways looking down.  What do you think?

Maybe we should open our eyes.  Our eyes are open.

On the second picture I'm still looking down.  Reago help me.

There is nothing like Lahina at night.  We with the lights on it was something special.

That was yesterday.  Today we got up with gentile breeze, and not a cloud in the sky.  It was like yesterday never happen.

Everything looks the same, no branch in the pool and everyone is tanning.

Oh, before I go I must show you my breakfast.  A blog wouldn't be complete without a pic to my breakfast, always different.

This is the one and only Grandma Stultz family special, This is a egg in a hole.  See Ya!
