2015 Day 14 A Perfect Day

Day 14 a Perfect Day

Today we got up early, Clela before me.  That is usual day for us.  I don't know what it is but to get that first cup of coffee and then to set on the Lanai is the best.

Here I am with the Journal Sentinel, a cup of coffee and just in case I see a whale I've got the binoculars.  Most mornings it has been to cold to set out side, but not today.  After reading the paper it was time for breakfast.  Something different?

Okay, okay I bet your saying you have seen this before.  Well look again, ha ha!  There is bananas with the yogurt.  Less food than yesterday and that is good.  The only walking we did today was down to the store and we got a paper, The Maui News.

We are still working on our quest to find a koa bowl.  We went next store to Kaanapali Beach Resort.  We always do that.  You just walk right in and make like you know where your going.  We have stayed here before.  Here are some pictures.

This picture is for Glen and Mary.  Everyday starting at 3:00 we had free drinks and snacks.  On top of that they always had Hawaiian entertainment.  Hey we always got back on time.

A great place to stay.

Today was our longest trip since we arrived.  We headed to Paia. It's a quaint small town in central Maui.  As long as we come to Maui we will find time to come here. If you would have come here in the sixties it would be hippie heaven, it still is.  You have the Charm of the past with the hint of what is to become.  You have lots of art and glass with a touch of the past.  The buildings are old but you see a renewal.  Were still looking for that koa bowl.  Size is one of our criteria.  We are still looking.  If you are planning on eating here you must try The Fish Market.

The best fish on the island.  It is always crowded and you wait in line.  As you are waiting you see all the wonderful food.  By the time you order you are starving.  Once you get you food you set down at tables with benches.  Now you have great conversation with strangers.  There was a couple from Oregon and another from Oklahoma.  Remember that level five tornado last year, well it came within a mile of their home.  It was headed right at their home, then made a turned when it crossed the river.

Please walk around and shop or just look like we did.  Then on the opposite side of the road you will find a Gelato store another must stop.

Now get in your car and head north on the same road to a park where you can watch surfer dudes do their thing.  You are looking for Hookipa Beach Park.  Here there is some given etiquette you should follow.  There is two places to park.  Do not and I say do not park down below with the locals.  This is their beach and I hate to say it but you are not want here.  We have gone down there and they will let you know you are not wanted there.  Okay, park up above.  You can see more anyway.

The water is beautiful. My pictures don't always show the beauty.  You must go and see for your self.

For the first time we were able to eat supper on the Lanai.  Most of the time it's to hot and too much sun.  With the sun setting I realize this was a perfect day from sun rise to sunset.

See ya tomorrow!
