February 26th 2018 We're Going To Fly On A Big Plane

I think today will be my last blog in Maui this year.  I would love to write more but it's time to pack up all our goodies and get ready to fly back to reality.  Our stay here has been one of our best.  The things we did and the places went has been very rewarding.

Got up to a beautiful day.  Because the weather we were able to eat outside this morning.

I can say that is my last piece of spam.  After eating we took a walk with me stopping to take more pictures of flowers using the portrait setting. Sometimes it works and (for me) most times it does not.

If the setting was working just the flower would be showing and the rest would be black.
Like all our walks, we end by the ocean and sit on lounge chairs.

As you can see the water close to shore is brown.  I checked the canal and it was still brown.  Last night we had as very strong wind and rain. Now I can see we had a down pour causing a lot of runoff.  I did take a walk over to the other resort to see the construction of their sea wall.  I'm jealous because they are going to have a very nice beach.

People are starting to use it.

We ate the last of the pizza from last night.  Still good today.

After lunch we went to Cemetery Beach to just enjoy the rest of the day.  We found ourselves looking for turtles.

I do have some nice video of the turtle eating.

One of the reason for making this trip was to take our chairs to the Salvation Army Store and donate them.

After that we headed to get a shaved ice.  We have a competitive  store. to make a comparison.  We walked over to the park and sat on a bench under the Banyan tree to eat our shaved ice.

It was good and in a small container that we could finish.  We both think the other store has a better product.  You know there are some very weird people in that park.  That is all I'll say.

For supper we had Lo Mien and it was good.

Well that was our day.  Come back next year for more of our Maui Vacations.

February 25th 2018 The Golden Goose

Today was a typical day in Maui.  We had a cloudy day most of the day.  However when the sun did come out it was real warm.  Unfortunately our day was warm but cloudy.

We ate breakfast on the Lanai .

Jimmy was in the house for the last time this year.  The fruit has been awesome this year.  The only draw back was our coffee will not be back next year.

Our resort is filling up more and more which means less lounge chairs by the ocean.  There was a time when they had tons of lounge chairs in stacks.  But the last what five years every since they lost their beach they somehow feel the only place people needed lounge chairs were around the pools and center lawn.  Thus no chairs for Clela and I.  Oh people still put towels on chairs and somehow never show up.  Anyway I went out to our car and got our beach chairs.  Presto, we were sitting under our favorite tree.  I thought I would take some pictures of the landscape.

This is the drainage canal and it is clear.  This means no more storm run off.

And here is our tree.  We had a late start .  Well what can I say either we pick the wrong time to look for whales or there is fewer whales here.  We probably had two good days this year.  Lunch time found us eating outside again.
We had a hot dog and chips you know when in Maui you eat Maui chips.  Oh so good.
After a rest we decided to go up to Fleming Park.  On the way a rescue squad went rowing by.  We thought someone needed care.  When we got there no rescue squad there.  However to our surprise there was a rescue going on.  The jet ski was bringing in the victim.

And to our surprise the rescue was a big swan.  The swan escaped form the Ritz Carlton and flew out into the ocean and landed.  It tried to take off but the waves were too large hence the rescue.

How about that.

The waves were coming in so I went down and took some pictures.

As you can see it's the young kids ride the best.

For supper we wanted a pizza from the Round Tree Pizza.  Man it was really good.

Well just a few more days before we leave.  See you tomorrow.

February 24th 2018 Taking The Day Off

The past two days we get up and the weather has been iffy in the morning with a little rain one minute and the next the sun is shining.  That is the some of us.  Being warm enough we ate breakfast out on the lanai.  Clela always seems to come up with something.

There you are three hockey pucks, papaya, banna bread and what everyone in Hawaiin wants for breakfast, spam.  Oh I did have Guava Nectar.  Those hockey pucks are pan cakes filled with blueberry.  As I said the other day they do have a good taste.  When you eat three you are full.

When we went down to the ocean we stopped to get new towels by the pool by the ocean.  As we were leaving the area some lady said Wisconsin.  Yes I am a free billboard for the Badgers.  We met a family from Green Bay.  He was wearing his Packer t-shirt.  When we were sitting by the ocean we met a guy from Racine.  He was here with his parents who live in New Berlin.

While sitting by the ocean we saw a couple getting wedding pictures.  She looks happy here but didn't look that way when they were reviewing the pictures.  Don't know what's going on there.
As we were leaving we did stop to talk to the guy who lives in New Berlin.  Small world isn't it.

You know I see all these people taking selfies of themselves and marvel at them.  They make it look so easy.  Well here we are.

Maybe I should stop because, well it's all those wrinkles.  Sometimes it's sad to see our life you flying by so fast.  Don't get me wrong I wouldn't change one thing. We are both so blessed.

For lunch we had sandwiches.  Got to start cleaning out the re-frig.

That was a good sandwich.

This afternoon went by fast, but don't ask me what we did.  So I guess we did nothing.  A little sleeping, a little T.V. and a little people watching.

Supper was going out to the grill and cooking two huge hand burgers.  Each Burger was at least one inch tall.  Started talking to the guy next to me.  He started talking about the next Wisconsin basketball game.  It turned out he was from Tomah.

Well that was our day of doing nothing.  See you tomorrow.

February 23rd 2018 Artists On The Beach

Woke up to a dank dark day.  By the time we drank our coffee the clouds were gone with the look of a bright beautiful day.  We had a chance eat outside and we did with a warm wind blowing.

Now that was a breakfast.  Okay I"m loosing it that was lunch we ate outside.

This morning we went to our favorite beach Cemetery Beach.  On the beach ,you had artists on the beach either using acrylic paint or chalk.  The event is called Maui Plein Air Painting Invitational.  There are artists from all over the United States.

 This women is from Minnesota.

 Chalk.

 Chalk used.

Some of the artists used brushes and some used a spatula.  They all had two hours to paint different scenes around the beach.  Then there is some gala tonight.  Some of the painting will be sold tonight and tomorrow.  Anyway here are the artists at work.

Chalk being used.

While we were at the beach you could see two big C130 by the Air National Guard kept flying by.  For as big a plane they don't make much noise.  The planes are based in Oahu.
Here is Clela with her new hat.

The hat is hand painted.

We did some groceries and went back to our condo for lunch.

For desert we had a Chocolate Dipped Macaroons.  Oh so good.

Wow! Hey do you want a bit?  Move a little closer and open your mouth.  Oh come on give it a try.

Wow you took a big bite.  Hope you like it.  If you did shake your head.

We did go down for a swim and had hot dogs and beans for our supper.  Well that was our day.  See you tomorrow.
