February 17th 2018 Going To the Pioneer Inn Grill

We got up knowing we would go out for breakfast so that cup of coffee is first on the agenda.  Looking outside we could see a beautiful day ahead of us.  As we left the condo we could see rain in the mountains.

We went to Lahaina for breakfast and do some shopping among other stops.  We went to one of our parking (free) lots, only to find it full.  I mean at ten in the morning.  As we were driving to our second parking lot, we found another one and parked there.  If you bought something at their mall, the Wharf, they would validate your free parking.  Heading down to the Pioneer Inn the sidewalks were full and the cars were moving like they were cruising the streets of down town Lahaina.  When we got to the restaurant it was almost full.  The waitresses were running around like crazy.  But after a short wait we got a table.  This restaurant is in the Inn and hasn't changed over the years which gives it charm.

The food is great here so we just took our time.  Being here is so different than being home because it seems like you are always in a hurry.  After eating we went over to the harbor and we saw people waiting for a whale watch.  The ferry just arrived from Lanai making the harbor a busy place.  We did notice some upgrades to the harbor itself.

We walked back through the park and looked at some of the art.

Heading back to the Wharf  Mall, Clela bought some towels for the kitchen , thus validating our parking.  We still had to pay two dollars and that is cheap.  Most other places charge three to five dollars an hour.
We were gone for more than three hours.   The next stop was to Office Max for a new mouse.

Next stop was over to the Safeway for grocery.  I should take some pictures of the isles in this store. they are so narrow.

We got back to our condo and there is no way we could carry all these groceries up, so we gave a tip to the bell boys to bring it up.  We took a rest and ate lunch.

Okay that is not much but I'm still somewhat full from breakfast.  Time seem to fly by here.  It's after four before we go down to the ocean.  As we were walking toward the ocean people were excited and pointing out into the ocean.  When we arrived we saw a baby and mother whale swimming near the shore.  How do you know it's a baby and mother?  First of all of course the size but the real tell tail was they remained on the surface.  So our first close sighting close to shore but it was a new born.

This is a head bob.

There two guys on paddle boards and the mother and baby swam between these two guys.  I hope they had Go Pro for pictures.

For supper we had a little pasta and an Italian sausage.  Well that was our day.  See you tomorrow.
